Parking Management

In response to transport and urban growth trends in recent years and increasing levels of congestion the City of Cape Town developed a comprehensive approach to the provision, management, regulation and enforcement of parking. The Parking Policy addresses on-street parking, off-street parking, park and ride facilities, loading bays, bus bays, reserved parking, parking permits and bicycle and motorcycle parking.

The Parking Policy aims to provide guidelines on the management of parking supply and demand in areas with high parking demand and reduce private car dependency by way of encouraging travel demand management (TDM) measures such as parking cash-outs and increased municipal parking tariffs.
