CAPE TOWN’S FIRST BLIND-FRIENDLY OUTDOOR PARK IN THE MAKING

Transport for Cape Town, the City of Cape Town's transport authority, is creating a blind-friendly park in Bellville within walking distance of the Athlone School for the Blind. The design and special features, including a scented garden and acoustic way-finding, will assist children with limited vision or no sight at all to orientate themselves in this outdoor space.

HEIDEVELD BOOSTS ITS FIRST ALL-FEMALE TEAM TO REPAIR ROADS

Residents in Heideveld may be surprised to see a team of women fixing potholes and doing maintenance work on footways and stormwater pipes in their suburb. This all-female roads repair team is the fourth to be appointed by the City of Cape Town and is part of the Women at Work Programme that has been nominated for the fourth annual Women in Construction Awards in the category for the most innovative women’s programme.
