CITY AND PRASA WORKING TOGETHER TO IMPROVE PASSENGER RAIL

In May 2015, Transport for Cape Town (TCT), the City of Cape Town’s transport authority, and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) signed a memorandum of action (MOA). This historical agreement will significantly improve passenger rail in the city and on Thursday 4 June 2015, the MOA also received the support of the Transport for Cape Town Portfolio Committee.

Public Urged To Comment On City’s Draft Cycling Strategy

The City of Cape Town’s Transport and Urban Development Authority has published a draft Cycling Strategy which aims to increase the percentage of commuter trips made by bicycle from the current 1% to 8% by 2030. Inclusive of the draft strategy is a proposal for a bicycle manufacturing plant in Cape Town.

GOLDEN ARROW BUS SERVICES FARE INCREASE

Golden Arrow will be increasing its fares by an average of 4.9% on 28 December 2015.This is in line with the special conditions of the Interim Contract, which make provision for an annual increase in passenger fares. The previous adjustment was on 29 December 2014.
